So I just went on a trip abroad that involved a lot of flying. There was lots of airport and engine noise from airplanes and brought my Audio Technica along for a test ride. Though I don’t consider myself a music expert or guru, I was able to enjoy the songs on my iPhone and hear my songs clearly. The one thing that really stands out about the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7Bs, and that makes it one of the best noise cancelling headphones, is that the distinct sounds of bass and trebles come out well. On my plane rides abroad these Audio Technicas did a great job filtering out the jet engine noise and roars and made them go away. Also I was basically flying for almost a whole day and found these headphones to be very comfortable, as a matter of fact I fell asleep with them on many times and when I woke up didn’t feel any itch or irritation around my ears.

As far as noise cancellation goes the ATH-ANC7B do an excellent job. If you put them on without music you will notice that they already do a good job dampening the noise around you. I was barely able to hear the engines of the plane once I put them on. These headphones are very well constructed for this purpose, they are designed to completely cover your ears and seal them, so that really keeps outside  sounds from leaking in. When I turned on the music it was as if I was in a quiet room, I really couldn’t tell that there was an engine on right outside the plane, except for the feeling of the vibrations I felt under my feet.

While doing my field test of the, I compared these headphones side by side with four other noise cancelling earphones : Bose QC3, Audio Technica ANC7, and Sennheiser PXC-250. I was in the marketplace for a noise cancelling headphone because I travel a lot and I needed to be able to watch films or hear music in relative quiet and isolation. The one thing I don’t like about ipod earbuds is that you have got to blast your ears to battle with the airplane’s engines. I don’t know about you but I would like to preserve my hearing and keep from going deaf. My main factors when rating these headphones were: sound quality, noise cancelling ability, and comfort. All three of these qualities were crucial and I did not actually need to reach a compromise on any of those classes. The sole headphone that did exceeding well in all there quality categories was in fact the Sennheiser PXC-450, which makes them one of the best noise cancelling headphones available today.

The Audio Techicas are one of the hottest phones on Amazon. I examined the evaluations of this headphone at length, and the majority rave about these earphones. The main complaint, which were few, seemed to all be about sound seepage. So unfortunately I found this to be true, when I was listening to these headphones in closed quarters, people around me noticed what I was playing. Other than that these are a great set of headphones. I recommend them as well with the caveat that they may not be good in closed quarters as you will most likely disturb your neighbor. The sound and noise cancelling is amazing considering the relatively low cost paid.

I travel often on work and the long world flights were getting to me, so I decided to get the new JVC HA-NC250s and give them a test drive. The new JVC HA-NC250 are a great set of headphones that produced great sound quality during my testing and review. It was so good I decided to research why sounds came out so nicely from these headphones, and here’s what I found. The HA-NC250 mixes exceptional sound quality with advanced noise-canceling and isolation technologies to supply a superior listening experience. The HA-NC250′s noise cancellation circuitry includes feedback technology that continually monitors the noise cancellation process. The earphones blocked up to 85% of extraneous background noise. To further block noise, the JVC HA-NC250 offers 2 JVC breakthroughs that help isolate the listener from outside sounds. First, each earpiece employs a double housing structure for an additional sound insulating layer. Secondly, JVC developed a new system for attaching the headphone’s smooth memory material cushioned ear pads to the housing that helps isolate background noise.

Here are the pros:

2)    Even better noise canceling performance regardless of the over the ear design. Even with the active noise cancellation off, just wearing the head-set provides good sound insulation.
